Scratch Art

Create your own masterpiece using a wooden stylus! The process is simple, scratch out any shape on a piece of special art paper using a wooden stylus. The special scratch art paper is made with two layers. The top layer is usually black and the bottom layer is often a multicolor rainbow. To make a picture, use the wooden stylus/scraper to scratch off coating of the top layer and expose the beautiful surface underneath. It is similar to engraving art thus it’s a great way for children to work on the development of their fine motor skills.

What is the recommended age for this activity?

As scratch art requires a certain degree of understanding to the instructions and guidance of the instructor, we would recommend it to children aged 7 and up.

How long does each session take?

Each session takes around 60 mins.

What would my child take home from the workshop?

They will get to take home a beautiful piece of artwork that they created! Unfortunately, they would not get to keep the tools. If your child is keen, our friendly instructors would gladly recommend you some of the places where you could get your tools and art paper.

Do I need to prepare any logistics for the workshop?

It would be ideal if a long table covered with plastic sheets and chairs are provided. If not, the activity can be done on the ground. If the activity is done on the ground, we highly recommend having groundsheets for hygiene purposes.
